You must be at least 18 years old. The app is for your personal, private use.
Datefolio is a personal journal. It is not therapy, medical, legal or relationship counselling, and not a safety service. AI reflections are generated automatically, can be wrong, and are not professional advice. If you feel unsafe, contact local emergency or support services.
You own what you write. Entries are stored on your device. We don't have access to them unless you use an AI reflection (see the privacy policy). You are responsible for what you write about other people. Please don't enter more than you need (for example, leave out phone numbers and home addresses), and don't use the app to harass, stalk, or expose anyone. Because your journal is only on your phone, we can't restore it if you lose or reset the phone; use "Export my data" to keep a copy. Videos or pictures you save or share from "Your Story" are yours; think about who you send them to, because they may show names, nicknames or initials.
You can use the app without an account. If you create one, you must give a working email address you control and keep access to it secure. We may suspend accounts used for abuse (for example, to bypass usage limits). You can delete your account at any time in the app (Settings → Delete account).
AI reflections are optional and only start after you agree in the app. They are written by an AI model (Claude, by Anthropic), not by a person. They are limited per week, and may be changed, paused or removed at any time (for example when a usage limit is reached). They can be wrong, tone-deaf or incomplete, and are not advice. Don't use them to make decisions that could harm you or others; the decisions about the people in your life are yours. You can report a reply in the app.
The current version is free. If we introduce paid plans, the free version's core features will be described in the app and nothing will be charged without your clear action.
We try to keep the app working but cannot promise uninterrupted service. We may update the app and these terms; for material changes we will tell you in the app.
We are liable without limit for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and under mandatory product liability law. For slight negligence we are liable only for the breach of an essential contractual obligation (one whose fulfilment makes the proper use of the app possible), and then only for the foreseeable damage typical for this kind of app. Otherwise our liability is excluded. This does not limit your statutory rights as a consumer.
German law applies, except that mandatory consumer protections of the country where you live stay unaffected. Apple's standard license terms for apps from the App Store apply in addition.
